‘The Candlelight Club’ Revealed… HA Office Christmas Party

written by HA

Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m going to let you into a little secret…

On the 12th December 2014 the Hel’s Angels Office Team donned our suits and sparkles in the name of Christmas and journeyed to an unknown North London venue, blissfully unaware of what to expect.

A single, solitary candle marked the entrance to the secret soirée. Excitement and anticipation were in the air as we were lead through a rather unassuming side door by a bow tie clad bouncer. Our feet edged us on, entranced by the sultry and sexy sounds of jazz, into a dazzling candlelit den where we were instantly transported into a magical and decadent era of times gone by. We had been launched headfirst into the Roaring 20’s, through the portal of the infamous Candlelight Club.

The Candlelight Club in their own words is ‘a clandestine pop-up cocktail bar in a secret London venue, a stunning, tucked-away venue with a 1920s speakeasy flavour, completely lit by candles. Each party offers a one-off cocktail menu, with special themes, plus dancing to live 1920’s jazz bands and vintage DJing.’

To maintain the mysterious and enigmatic vibe, the venue is only announced via an email invite a couple of days before. The dress code is strictly 1920’s – think dandies and flappers, gangsters and molls, feathers, pearls, sequins galore; and everyone goes ALL out. Guests are treated to live swing jazz, on this particular occasion the Gallic smoothie Benoit Viellefon and his Orchestra, plus vintage vinyl spun by resident DJ Auntie Maureen.

As well as lashings of champagne and mouth-watering à la Carte nibbles, guests are also offered a bespoke Christmas cocktail menu featuring delicious homemade mincemeat vodka- right up our street! See below for a taster…

Whether your heart desires escapism from mundane reality, you are looking for a place to dance the night away letting all inhibitions loose, you fancy tantalizing your taste buds with a festive cocktail whilst relaxing in unique and magical surroundings, or simply want to party like it’s 1925, The Candlelight Club is certainly a night to remember.
