Jen’s Cocktail of the week: Blackberry & Ginger Bramble

Last Wednesday I went on a early morning Blackberry hunt before work. I managed to snag enough harvest for my breakfast, and also – not before work, but when I got home! – rack up a rather lovely Blackberry and Ginger gin Bramble cocktail. Recipe follows below – a perfect drink to make the most of late summer’s hedgerow bounty. Next week I am looking for elderflower berries… apparently there are some on a roundabout nearby… and don’t worry, it’s all picked above dog height!

Blackberry & Ginger Bramble

Recipe:

  • 50ml Plymouth Gin
  • 10ml Fresh Lime Juice
  • 10ml Creme de Mure
  • 5ml gomme syrup
  • 6 slices of fresh ginger
  • 4 Freshly picked Blackberries

Method:

  • Muddle the gin, ginger, lime juice and gomme in a boston tin.
  • Shake.
  • Pour over some ice in a squat tumblr.
  • Gently bruise some blackberries and place in the glass with a few slices of fresh ginger.
  • Drizzle over the creme de mure, and garnish with fresh blackberries.
